Alex Song took advantage of the press conference prior to the Celtic-Barcelona match to send a message to Samuel Eto’o, his Cameroon teammate.

The former Barcelona forward does not have a good relationship with the midfielder and publically criticised him a few weeks ago, saying that “Song is not a star”, while at the same time as sending a reminder that he had triumphed with the ‘Azulgrana’ club.

Song made reference to the list of ten nominees for the African Footballer of the Year on which he features alongside players such as Touré and Drogba, while Eto’o is not nominated this time round.

With a huge smile, Song said: “Everyone has their opinion and my name is on the list. They’ve seen it in the papers”. He did not name Samuel but he didnŽt have to – everyone understood what he meant.

The Cameroon player also talked about the Glasgow game, remembering the atmosphere at Celtic park. “I played here three years ago. There’s a great atmosphere and we hope to win the match”, he commented to the journalists.

The African recalled the Camp Nou scare although he did not seem concerned: “They played very well and scored early on. We just had to play as we do best and we won in the end because of that. If we play our football, we’ll win”.
