The following story was splashed on the front page of Spanish daily Marca on Tuesday.

Why was Sergio Ramos wearing a ‘Mesut Ozil 10′ jersey under his own Real Madrid shirt last weekend?

In recent weeks, as Real Madrid have suffered a difficult start to the La Liga season, chatter has been rife about a supposed dispute between coach Jose Mourinho and players Sergio Ramos and Mesut Ozil.

Sergio Ramos’ alleged fallout with the Special One has been discussed ever since the defender was dropped for the Champions League match against Manchester City. The Spanish international, who has appeared undroppable at the Bernabau in recent seasons, is now said to be experiencing a difficult relationship with Mourinho.

As for Mesut Ozil, the German international is also on the outside of matters with the Los Blancos, having also been benched for the match with Man City as well as the league match at Rayo Vallecano. The attacking midfielder has played second fiddle to Luka Modric in recent weeks, and on September 26th he used his official Facebook page to comment:

The rumour that I often spend the night at parties outside is not true! Since the soccer season started I have almost never been out for parties. I’m training and working very professionally.

With the scene set we come to Marca’s front page on Tuesday.

During Real Madrid’s 5-1 thrashing of Deportivo La Coruna last weekend, Sergio Ramos was spotted wearing a Mesut Ozil number 10 jersey under his own shirt during the second half of the match. Moreover, Ozil was hooked off at the interval for Kaka.

Spanish paper Marca have interpreted Ramos’ double shirt antics as a sign of rebellion toward Jose Mourinho. Marca have speculated that had Ramos scored against Depor, he would have taken off his number 4 shirt to show solidarity with fellow outsider Ozil.

Whether there is any truth to Marca’s article is open to debate, but Barcelona fans have since had their say on the matter by doctoring Ramos’ double shirt antics for their own ends.

UPDATE: Also below the fold is a copy/paste of Sergio Ramos’ comments on Twitter on Tuesday, in which the defender tried to explain away his double shirt antics.
