Sampdoria say no thanks to Liverpool

With speculation these last couple of weeks that Kop flop Mario Balotelli could be on his way back to Italy to join Sampdoria, Liverpool’s hope of at least getting a £100,000 per-week wage off their books has been dashed after Sampdoria trainer Walter Zenga said they would be making no move for the Italian striker.

The 55-year-old trainer also ruled out talk that they were trying to sign free agent Antonio Cassano.

“Cassano and Balotelli are players of extraordinary talent, but no, we won’t be signing them,” he said.
