Ryan Giggs has urged his Manchester United team-mates to beat Manchester City

The current title holders travel to neighbours City on Monday knowing victory will put them on the verge of clinching their 20th top-flight title.

Giggs knows United must use their wealth of experience in a match where there is plenty at stake for both sides.

And he has backed Sir Alex Ferguson’s men to rise to the occasion at the Etihad Stadium.
Statement
“City will be looking at it and fancying themselves to win because they’re a good team and they’re at home,” said Giggs.

“But we’re Manchester United, we’re the champions and we’ll try and put a statement out that we deserve to win this league.

“We have experience when it comes to winning titles, but City have got experienced players who have won titles maybe with other clubs.

“We need to make sure we use the experience we’ve got.

“It’s a big game but as United players we’re definitely used to it.”

Massive
Giggs has helped United win plenty of title-winning matches during his 21-year spell at Old Trafford but admits he is desperate to be involved against City.

“If I’m involved against City I’ll be more excited than anyone,” added the 38-year-old. “These are the sort of games I’m still involved in football for.

“They’re big, title-deciding games. Apart from cup finals this is as big as you can get.

“There is no mistaking this is a massive game and the biggest in recent times.”
