ROBERTO MANCINI’S transfer window woes have continued after Roma’s Daniele De Rossi decided to stay put.

Rossi the latest to snub City

The Italian midfielder yesterday followed Eden Hazard and Robin van Persie in rejecting Manchester City.

Hazard chose instead to move to Chelsea while Mancini’s top target Van Persie joined bitter rivals United instead.

Mancini was convinced the £30million deal for De Rossi, 29, would go through by today.

But the player said: “I’m staying here. I’m happy here and I have never, never, asked to leave.

“People have written all sorts of things, about me, about Mancini. Some of it makes me laugh, some of it makes me angry.

“I decided to talk, but it wasn’t my intention to talk about an offer from Manchester City.

“If I ever think about leaving, I’ll come here in front of these microphones and speak, like a 30-year-old-man should do.

“I always told the truth, even when we were talking about money, never hiding anything.

“For me it’s important to say my piece. I am here at Roma, I’m happy and never asked to leave.”

Etihad boss Mancini may also miss out on another target — Athletic Bilbao’s Javi Martinez — who can play as a defensive midfielder or centre-half.

Bayern Munich have jumped in ahead of them to pay the £32m buy-out clause in the player’s contract.
