WAYNE ROONEY has fired a Twitter blast at Didier Drogba – telling him: Stop diving.
The striker spent much of Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Barcelona rolling around on the ground with a string of supposed injuries that miraculously cleared up straight away.
But despite Manchester United ace Rooney admiring the Ivorian’s quality on the ball, the amateur dramatics on show also merited a mention.
He wrote: “Drogba. Your a good player but pls get up.”
Rooney’s Tweet was echoed by Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler, who wrote: “Has drogba got the right footwear on… Seems to be slipping a lot.”
Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel added: “Hahaha Drogba is so funny, all the time on the ground!”
Drogba’s strike gives Chelsea an advantage going into Tuesday’s second-leg showdown at the Nou Camp.
Former Derby clogger Robbie Savage believes the striker’s goal on the stroke of half-time proved he is better when he remains upright.
He said: “Drogba lol lol see what happens when you stay on your feet!”
But Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas had a theory about why the constant stoppages were taking place.
He chirped: “People on here killing off Drogba for diving around but I can guarantee the midfielders and defends are happy for the rest!”
