As AS Roma prepare to lose star player Erik Lamela to Tottenham, the club have softened the blow by signing Fiorentina’s Adem Ljajic for 11€ million.

Ljajic had refused to sign a new contract with the Florence based team once it was understood the both AC Milan and Roma were interested in signing him, with the Giallorossi having the young Serb sign a four year contract.

A statement published on the clubs official website said: “Roma have agreed a deal with Fiorentina to acquire the playing rights of Adem Ljajic, in return for 11million euros.

“The agreement also recognises the payment of up to 4million euros in bonuses relating to achievements of both Roma and the player.

“The player has signed a four-year deal which takes effect from today and expires on June 30, 2017.”

This deal follows the agreement by Roma to sell their hugely talented Argentinian striker 21-year-old Erik Lamela to Tottenham for 30€ million plus at least 5€ million in bonuses.
