Italian Serie A side AS Roma is hoping that Manchester City will be looking to quickly recoup the £49 million they paid to Liverpool for Raheem Sterling as soon as possible by making a lower bid than City wants for Bosnian international striker Edin Dzeko.

Dzeko along with Montenegrin international Stevan Jovetic have had problems holding down a place in manager Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City team and now look to be headed for the exit door at the Etihad if City can find clubs willing to pay enough money for the unwanted pair.

After having an initial bid of £13 million knocked back for Dzeko, Roma has now offered to pay £15 million plus £3 million in add-ons for Dzeko, while Inter Milan has only offered £10 million for Jovetic, which is less than half of what City paid to Fiorentina for the attacker back in 2013.

Cash rich City meanwhile can afford to sit on their pair until offers they consider reasonable come through, but in the meantime have now turned their attention to making Wolfsburg’s Kevin De Bruyne their next summer signing target.
