Rodgers loves Liverpool’s scoring power

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was quick to praise his side’s goal scoring prowess following the come from behind 3-6 win at Cardiff City.

Liverpool were training the Bluebirds twice on Saturday afternoon, but each time managed to come back and win the match after scoring an impressive six goals.

When asked about his sides defensive failing Rodgers was keen to talk about the Reds attack rather than their apparent weakness at the back.

“We showed a number of qualities,” he told Sky Sports. “I thought the quality of our goals was very good, we showed our composure and our focus, especially when we went behind.

“We went behind twice in the game and we didn’t panic, and in the second half we showed great composure on the ball to create chances.

“We scored six goals again and we showed that offensive power in our attacking game.”

When asked if the team’s leaky back was a problem the Northern Irishman added:

“That is the way it goes sometimes. The best teams will concede goals.

“We were probably too deep in the first half and the pitch was stretched too much, which gave them too much space.

“But I think anybody watching Liverpool today would see the real attacking threat we have. We were wonderful with the ball at times.”

The win at Cardiff keeps Liverpool firmly in the title race four points behind leaders Chelsea with a game in hand which they will make up against Sunderland on Wednesday night.

Rodgers added: “I am really, really proud of the team, and that is four games away from home that we’ve won on the spin and I can only be delighted with the performance and now we look to the next game.”
