Van Persie told Arsenal last month that he will not be renewing his contract and the club beyond this season, and manager Arsene Wenger has accepted that he must offload his captain now.
Wenger has already brought in replacements in the form of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, but the Frenchman is now ready to include Van Persie in his plans for the start of the season, with a move away from the club stalling.
The Gunners have rejected offers of around £15 million from Juventus and both Manchester clubs, and while they remain in contact with the interested trio, a deal is far from close.
Van Persie, who is said to be working hard in pre-season training, has not become an outcast among the players – despite his quit plea – and Wenger is now poised to take him on their forthcoming training camp in Germany.
A decision is expected today on whether the 28-year-old will travel, but the idea comes as both United and City refuse to meet Arsenal’s £25 million asking price, while off-field turmoil at Juventus has seen them lower their interest.
Juve have shown the most significant interest in Van Persie and have made him their top target this summer, but with manager Antonio Conte currently embroiled in a match fixing scandal, the Serie A champions have shelved their transfer activity at present.
Van Persie is still hopeful he will be able to seal his exit from Arsenal, with Manchester United his preferred destination, but is ready to play for the Gunners in Cologne next week.
He may well be joined by Spain winger Santi Cazorla in featuring in Germany, with Arsenal currently sorting out the formalities on his switch from Malaga, after he completed a medical yesterday.
