Bayern Munich forward Arjen Robben is set to become Louis van Gaal’s first signing should he be appointed the new manager of Manchester United.

ESPN says that the Sun newspaper is claiming that the Dutch winger will be van Gaal’s first signing after he is announced as being the new Manchester United manager next week.

Robben already plays for van Gaal in the Dutch national team, and recently signed a new contract with Bayern Munich which would see the 30-year-old remain there until 2017.

Following their exit from the Champions League to Real Madrid the Sun is speculating that the Bundesliga Champions could look to offload Robben as they attempt to rebuild the team with him possible available to United for £25 million.

Following the disastrous appointment of David Moyes, Manchester United will miss out on Champions League football for the first time in 19-years which has the club promising van Gaal £200 million to invest in new players.
