Fulham have completed the signing of Sunderland’s versatile midfielder Kieran Richardson.

Richardson completes Fulham move

Richardson, 27, signed a three-year deal with an additional year’s option and moved for an undisclosed fee.

Speaking to Fulham’s official website, Richardson said: “I’m delighted that my transfer to Fulham has been completed and now I’m eager to start training for my new club straight away and pulling on the white shirt for the first time.”

Manager Martin Jol added: “Kieran is a proven top-level player, who has the versatility to play in a number of positions. He will bring all-round quality which will add strength to our squad and I’m confident that he will adapt well to our style of football, and make an impact for us.”

The England international joined the Black Cats from Manchester United in 2007 in a deal estimated to be worth around £5.5 million.

Meanwhile Sunderland have moved to secure Richardson’s replacement after opening discussions with Tottenham Hotspur over a loan deal for Danny Rose.

Rose, 22, who joined Spurs from Leeds in 2007, and was a member of Stuart Pearce’s squad for this summer’s Olympics, has had previous loan spells at Watford, Peterborough United and Bristol City.
