Real Madrid is considering making a move for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, according to Cadena Cope.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder is regarded as one of Europe’s hottest young stars, and has already attracted the attention of both Manchester United and Arsenal.
Carvalho’s stock has risen even higher following his displays for Portugal during the U-21 European Championships, which were held recently in the Czech Republic, where he won the Golden Player award.
Real Madrid has now put his name on a list of players they would like to sign this summer.
Madrid sees Carvalho as a replacement for Asier Illarramendi should Liverpool try to sign him after being heavily linked with the former Real Sociedad player.
Carvalho has a buyout clause of 45€ million which the Spanish giants expect to be lowered should they begin negotiations with Sporting Lisbon.
