Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane insists that his mind is focused on the World Cup and that he has not given any thought to joining Chelsea despite all the reports that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is ready to make a move for the 21-year-old Frenchman.

Mourinho signed Varane for Real Madrid back in 2011 while he was in charge of the club and is now the leading candidate to replace Brazilian defender David Luiz who Chelsea just sold to French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

When speaking to French TV station TF1 Varane said: “The interest of Chelsea? In these moments I am not thinking of that at all. There is a World Cup to prepare for, it is not the moment to think about such issues.”

Varane has excelled since moving to Madrid and will cost Mourinho in excess of £20 million should he try and bring him to Stamford Bridge.
