Kurt Zouma

Napoli manager Rafa Benítez is ready to fight Manchester City in order to sign Kurt Zouma from Saint-Etienne.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea boss has said that he considered trying to sign both Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger from Liverpool, but has since turned his attention to the 19-year-old Zouma.

The French youth international is currently serving a ten-match ban after having broken an opponent’s leg during a wild challenge in a match last weekend against Sochaux, and will not now play for his club again until after the January transfer window closes.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini has faced defensive problems this season, missing Captain Vincent Kompany for much of the year, and will certainly be weighing up a move for the £10 million rated central defender as will Benitez who saw his side concede three goals in their last outing away to Juventus.
