Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina knows Benitez well from his time not only at Anfield, but in Italy while playing for the Spanish manager at Napoli, and has said that Benitez is returning to England this summer to take up a job in the Premiership.
Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez will return to the Premier League when his contract is up with the Serie A side this summer making him a favourite to replace Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad should the clubs Qatar owners decide to let him go.
Despite working in Italy Benitez’s family remained on Merseyside where they have a family home with the former Reds keeper saying: “His idea is to be with his family and they are in England and very happy. “If he has the chance to go back to England, why not?”
Reina is back in Liverpool today in order to take part in a charity match that has rival captains Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher lining up all-star teams that include the likes of Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso.
