Over the weekend there was plenty of speculation linking Liverpool with a move for Paris Saint-Germain left-back Lucas Digne, with the 22-year-old being touted as the man to provide Alberto Moreno competition for a starting place in manager Brendan Rodgers first XI.

All this talk may have in fact been for nothing with Digne’s agent Morten Espersen claiming there had been no contact with the Merseyside club.

“That’s not right. They have not given me permission to talk to Liverpool,” he said.

“I cannot comment on the clubs’ names, but there is interest from several large systems. We have to see if something will come eventually, but that is what is being worked on. Lucas is not 100 percent satisfied with the situation in Paris.”
