According to various reports, Arsenal on very close to completing the signing of their first summer transfer business deal. Long term target Granit Xhaka is set to join the Gunners having agreed personal terms with the club. Only two weeks ago Skysports confirmed the news of Arsenal’s interest in the Switzerland international.
Now Fichajes, a Spaniard media house are reporting the Gunners and the player have finally reached an agreement on personal terms and should both the Londoners and Borussia Monchengladbach be able to reach an agreement on transfer fee, the player will become a Gunner even before the start of the Euro cup. According to the report, Arsenal hope to announce the signing of the Swiss star within the next three weeks.
The 23-year-old who has also been linked with a move to Manchester City is one of the best and most versatile youngsters in European football. He was last summer linked with a move to Arsenal but nothing came out of the reports.
Able to play the deep lying midfield role as well as the defensive midfield role, Granit Xhaka will be a wonderful addition to the current Arsenal team especially as reports claim Rosicky, Flamini and Arteta could leave the Emirates this summer.
Xhaka will certainly be an upgrade on Arteta and Flamini in the defensive midfield role and will provide good competition for Francis Coquelin. His signing may even help make the Frenchman better than he is at the most.
However, Arsenal needs to hurry up and complete the deal before it is hijacked. With City said to be remotely increased, it will be to Wenger and Arsenal’s interest to get the deal done and dusted on time.
