With his contract up in the summer, and eager for first team football in order to keep his World Cup chances alive Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is willing to let the 31-year-old  leave this January , but would prefer to wait until Martin Demichelis has recovered from a knock he picked up on Christmas Day.

The defender who was signed from Everton in 2009 for £22 million has made 13 appearances for City this season and is considered to be the fourth choice centre-back at the club.

Newcastle United and Tottenham both want to sign the England international on loan to the end of the season, but the Daily Mail is reporting that both Monaco and Turkish club Besiktas would like to sign him to a permanent deal.

Lescott has reportedly said that he would like to remain in the Premiership, so for the moment at least Tottenham is leading the pack.
