Robin van Persie may have decided that a move to Turkey was right for him, but Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes knows where his bread is buttered turning down a move to Turkish side Antalyaspor to fight for his place at Old Trafford.

The 33-year-old former Barcelona shot-stopper signed an 18-month deal with United back in January, yet has only featured twice for the club coming in for the injured De Gea for the final two games of the season.

Despite the interest from Turkey Valdes’s agent says his client will stay at Old Trafford for the remainder of his contract.

‘Valdes’ thoughts are to continue as a player of Manchester United,’ Gines Carvajal told Spanish newspaper AS.

‘He has one year left on his contract with the club. We see no good reason to leave the club.

‘United are one of the three or four best in the world and Victor is excited about having a place in the team for next season. He’s ready to give the best to help the team.’
