arsenal,

Many Arsenal fans will tell you their club could do with the signing of another defensive midfielder this summer despite the fact that Arsenal last winter signed Mohammed Elneny from Swiss side FC Basel.

And according to reports this morning, the Gunners may finally have their wish for a new defensive midfielder signing as Arsenal scout Louis Boa Morte who once played for the Gunners is said to be in Portugal on a scouting mission.

This isn’t the first time Boa Morte is watching Danilo this season. He even confirmed Arsenal’s interest in the midfielder in January.

The former Arsenal and Fulham star is said to be keeping an eye on Danilo Pereira. Boa Morte had in December 2015 officially confirmed he was watching the Porto star with the aim of bringing the high rated midfielder to Arsenal. Danilo is said to be available for as about £29 million and reports claim the Gunners are ready to pay this amount.

And should Arsenal win the race to sign Danilo ahead of Manchester United who has also been linked to signing the Porto midfielder, they probably most certainly going to drop the interest in Xhaka who has also been linked with a move to the Emirates this sumer.

If Arsenal manages to sign Danilo, it will be interesting to see how the competition for the first team place between the Portuguese and Francis Coquelin will shape out. Danilo will definitely not be coming to Arsenal if he is doesn’t have the chance of first team football. Will Wenger who refused to sign Xabi Alonso those years because signing the Spaniard would “kill” Denilson now sign Danilo and “kill” Coquelin?

Only time shall tell.
