According to various reports in the English media today, Manchester United have been given a massive boost in their chase for the signing of a striker this summer. This is as reports emerged that Inter Milan star Mauro Icardi is now ready to consider any offers made for his services this summer. The 23-year-old Argentine who is currently Inter Milan’s captain is one of the key targets for United and incoming manager Jose Mourinho this summer.

Last summer, the Argentine was constantly being linked with a move to Manchester United but he chose to remain in Italy and signed an extension to his deal. Fortunately for the Red devils, the lure of Champions league football and the Premier league could mean he will leave Inter Milan this summer.

Speaking to the Press in Italy ( via metro), Icardi confirmed he will consider any offers for his services this summer especially as Inter Milan can’t make it into the Champions League places for next season.

“The possibility to qualify for the Champions League is almost gone, but we will keep on trying.

“There are still four games and we must try to do well, even if we have to compete with a strong team like Roma. Today we didn’t deserve to lose, but we didn’t take our chances.

“My future without the Champions? I am here to win with this club, but if there will be some offers, we’ll have to talk with the club. I think about playing.”

This is good news for United. However, with Arsenal also said to be interested in him, if United do not beat the Gunners to the fourth position, Icardi may choose the Gunners ahead of United.

From the quote attributed to him above, Icardi surely want to play in the Champions league and If United can’t guarantee him that and Arsenal makes a good offer for him ( which is likely ) then the Red devils can forget it.

However, Alex Teixeria, Lavezzi, Demba Ba among others went to China for money and surely United is more attractive than any of the Chinese clubs. The lure of earning more money could also compel Icardi to choose United over the Gunners.
