No summer striker for Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed yesterday that he will not be signing a new striker for the Gunners this summer ending all speculation that Mario Balotelli will be moving to the Emirates.
Previously Arsenal were being linked heavily with the Italian international along with OPR front man Loic Remy, and former Bayern Munich star Mario Mandzukic.
Despite having ruled out signing a striker the 64-year-old Frenchman did say that he is not done in the transfer market yet and that there would be new arrivals coming to the Emirates.
When speaking to the Daily Star he said: “It depends whether our midfielders get through now until the start of the season without injuries.
“Up front we don’t need any more, maybe I will still bring in one centre-back. I will bring in a goalkeeper for sure and we are still out there to strengthen our squad.
“You do the deals when it’s possible, this time we could do it early and I am very happy with what I have done until now. It’s easier to prepare, but we are not the only club who have done business.
“Some other clubs have also done business – Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have bought great players and the competition should be interesting again next season.”
The news that Wenger has decided not to invest in a new striker will be a source of contention for many arsenal fans who saw lone striker Olivier Giroud struggle at times especially towards the end of the season after having played in more than 50 games.
