Jose Mourinho’s contract talks with Real Madrid are practically complete and he is set to be handed even more power at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mourinho handed more power at Madrid

According to El Mundo Deportivo, the Madrid Coach will sign a new deal that will keep him with the club until 2014, with his backroom staff of Aitor Karanka, Rui Faria, Silvino Louro and Jose Morais all expected to be handed improved offers.

It is believed Mourinho and his agent Jorge Mendes met with Madrid executive director Jose Angel Sanchez some weeks ago, where it was confirmed the former Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan boss would pen a new agreement even if Los Blancos ended this season without a trophy.

In exchange for his continuity Mourinho would be granted even more power within the club after taking over some of the duties performed by director of football Jorge Valdano before his sacking last summer.

Mourinho considers that the final word on signing players should be his, similar to the manner in which English clubs conduct their business, and his hand would be further strengthened by the addition of the La Liga title and a 10th European Cup to Madrid’s roll of honours in the coming weeks.
