Everyone said it would happen and now it appears to be true, when they said that Southampton could not keep up their lofty ambitions and finish in the top-four this season after the Saints just lost three and drew one of their last five games dropping down from third to sixth place.

The demise in the Saints fortune has French international defensive midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin ready to jump ship and join a club that can give him Champions League football, and is now believed to have agreed personal terms with Arsenal over a £25 million move to the Emirates.

The Gunners have been tracking the 25-year-old for the past three transfer windows, and now the Daily Star says they are eager to push through a deal this summer with only the exact price still to be finalized.
