Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is not shy when it comes to splashing the cash, but knows players wages, are really what hurts a club, so with this in mind the Dutchman will send Radamel Falcao back to Monaco saving £265,000 per-week while at the same time freeing up Robin van Persie and Angel Di Maria to save another £500,000.

This will then clear the Red Devils boss to go after Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale who has not had the kind of season in the Spanish capital that he would have hoped for while playing in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid crashed out of the Champions League on Wednesday night to Juventus 3-2 on aggregate, and look certain to end the La Liga season behind Barcelona, meaning no silverware for Los Blanco’s this season while at the same time raising the question of whether or not Italian trainer Carlo Ancelotti will be at the helm next season.

While LVG would like to make Bale his marquee summer signing it may just come down to Bale telling Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he would like to move on, but like all professional athletes the Welshman seems to feel as though he has a point to prove, and may just stubbornly stay at the Santiago Bernabeu for another season in the hope of getting the crowd on his side.

This story has a long time to play out still, and our opinion here at Soccer Transfers is that Bale having a point to prove will remain with the Spanish giants under a new coach while RVP could be heading to Turkey and Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain.
