After it seems that Kelechi Nwakali to Arsenal move had been done and dusted, latest report reveals that the deal now hangs by a thread.

According to Daily Star, Arsenal have pulled the plug on the deal which would have seen the budding Nigerian U-17 star join the club this summer. The lad was pictured with Wenger in January and it was believed that both parties have agreed to a deal.

A 5-year deal was reported to be on the cards but it seems that his representatives’ package is proving to be the major stumbling block.

Despite the player having agreed personal terms and passed a medical at the club, he may end up at another club.

Nwakali’s brother told allnigeriasoccer.com: “After the World Cup, many clubs were calling me, up to ten. Arsenal were the last, Olympiakos were interested.”

It is claimed that the Gunners offered three times more than what Ajax were eager to pay for the attacker’s services but if this deal fail to pull through, the Dutch giant could yet swoop in for his signature.

Should this report hold water, then Arsenal may have missed out on signing one of the best young players in African football. His Most Valuable Player award at the 2015 U-17 tournament speaks volume and the fans can only but wish that they secure the signing of this box-to-box midfielder.

Seeing what Kelechi Iheanacho is doing for Manchester City, we can only but drool on how the younger Nigerian will perform in the red and white jersey.
