According to French football publication L’Equipe via Metro Manchester United has been told that Paris Saint-Germain is looking to replace Uruguayan international striker Edinson Cavani and that the 28-year-old is available for £32 million.

United has in the past made approaches for the South American, but he has always opted to stay in Paris despite playing second fiddle at the Parc des Princes to Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has come to the conclusion that Wayne Rooney’s days as a central striker are coming to an end, and that he wants to play a more experienced striker up front than summer signing Anthony Martial.

One small item the report refused to address however is Cavani’s huge wage demands with the former Napoli man said to be looking to get £300,000 per-week if he was to move to a new club.
