Manchester United is all set to test Lazio’s resolve to keep hold of Brazilian U-21 international midfielder Felipe Anderson according to the Star on Sunday, despite the fact that just last week the 22-year-old signed a five-year-contract to stay at the Stadio Olimpico.

Red Devils scouts have been hugely impressed by the attacking midfielder, who is equally at home playing on the wing, and are pressing for Louis van Gaal to sign him for United as they feel he would slot nicely into the team the Dutchman is putting together for his title challenge next season.

Anderson first made his name with Pele’s old club Santos before moving to Italy, and with Lazio keen to bring in Robin van Persie for the now 36-year-old Miroslav Klose, all the making of a deal are already in place.

Meanwhile Anderson has also been linked with Chelsea with fellow Brazilian Oscar urging Jose Mourinho to sign him saying: “He could really be useful here.

“We’ve played together at U20 level for Brazil and he was amazing. He can become even better and great players are always welcome at Chelsea.”
