Manchester United is going all out to beat Chelsea and sign Southampton defender Luke Shaw before the World Cup kick s off in June.

Both teams sent scouts to watch Borussia Dortmund star Marcus Reus play in their 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena last weekend as United look to overhaul the club this summer.

Despite the pressure on Moyes after what was for United a disastrous season the Scot is pushing ahead with his rebuilding plans and is confident that they can persuade Southampton left-back Luke Shaw to reject Chelsea who he supported as a boy and sign for United.

Shaw is said to be concerned about getting regular first team football at Chelsea with César Azpilicueta playing so well this season and also the fact that Ashley Cole may sign a new contract with the Blues.

With Manchester United assuming that Patrice Evra will be leaving in the summer signing 18-year-old Shaw would take care of the left back position for the next ten years at least.

Despite Southampton saying that they do not need to sell players United believe that they can strike a deal for the England youngster who could be their second signing of the summer after Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho.
