Manchester United manager Luis Van Gaal is ready to increase the Red Devils attacking options by activating the £22 million release clause of Barcelona winger Pedro.

With the departure of Robin van Persie to Fenerbahce, United has only one true striker in their first team in Wayne Rooney, and with van Gaal wanting to play a 4-3-3 the addition of a versatile forward like Pedro would go a long way in increasing the clubs goal scoring threat.

Pedro has struggled for playing time at the Nou Camp since the arrival of Neymar and Luis Suarez, and now with the edition of Atletico’s Arda Turan to the club he has finally decided that it is time to move.

Up until now the 27-year-old World Cup winner was being linked with a move to Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, with the Blues the latest club to get involved and also the favourites due to the fact his former Barcelona and Spain national teammate Cesc Fabregas is already at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United meanwhile has been very aggressive in the transfer market this summer, and if LVG wants Pedro, Chelsea or anyone else for that matter will have a tough time competing with what United would be prepared to offer.

For us here at Soccer Transfer we feel United would present the 27-year-old with more playing time and the opportunity to show how good he really is, so looking at it purely that way we would recommend he moves to Old Trafford rather than to Chelsea where just like Barcelona he would have to compete fiercely for the start each week.
