Manchester United Star turned down BIGGER OFFERS to become a Red Devil

Manchester United new boy Anthony Martial tuned down more lucrative offers from other clubs just so that he could make his dream move to Old Trafford says Monaco president Vadim Vasilyev.

The 19-year-old French striker signed for Manchester United on deadline days for a massive £36 million that could rise to £58 million in a move that shocked the world of football after seeing such a large amount of money being paid for a relatively unknown player.

At the time Manchester United were criticised for having laid out so much on a player who had still not even made his senior debut for France, but it was not long before Martial justified the outlay scoring four goals in five matches.

Vasilyev has now confessed that Monaco had received an even bigger offer for the teenager, but it was his dream of becoming a Red Devil that led him to choose Manchester United.

‘There was another club that offered even more than United,’ admitted Vasilyev.

‘I will not say how much, but the fixed price – without variables – it was even better.

‘And also they offered us to have him for a further year in Monaco. But the boy wanted to go to Manchester, it was his dream.

‘We let him go with the bonus of €30 million. Had it not been for so much money, he’d have stayed.’
