Despite the January transfer window having just closed Manchester United are reportedly already busy lining up their summer targets which include Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.

United along with Premier League rivals Chelsea have both been interested in the French international defender, but it is Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal who wants to get a jump on the Blues by trying to get a deal with Madrid in place now rather than wait until the summer.

According to reports in Italy, United is putting together a £35 million package for the Spanish giant’s approval and hope to have a verbal agreement with Los Blanco’s for the highly-rated 21-year-old.

Meanwhile Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho knows just how good Varane is after having worked with the youngster while he was the manager at Real Madrid, but know with the performances of Kurt Zouma at centre-back catching everyone’s attention, Mourinho may give up on the idea of being reunited with his former player.
