Manchester United is ready to hijack Arsenal’s plans to sign Juventus box-to-box midfielder Arturo Vidal according to Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport after the Red Devils decided to resurrect their interest in the 28-year-old.

United were earlier in the year being linked with a move for the Chilean international but were put off by concerns over a knee injury that they have apparently put behind them as they now prepare to hold talks with Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich next week.

Arsenal was the strong favourite to get Vidal’s signature due to the fact his international teammate Alexis Sanchez is already at the club and has settled into life in London with ease.

Meanwhile Felicevich was in attendance at Wembley yesterday to watch the Gunners triumph over Aston Villa in the FA Cup final and is understood to have plans to meet with United and discuss a possible move to Old Trafford for Vidal.

Juventus has always maintained that they want to keep hold of Vidal, but with Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira set to join them on a free-transfer they would be prepared to sell Vidal if the price was right with £28 million assumed to be the ballpark figure the Italians are looking for.
