Manchester United have now replaced Liverpool in the race to sign Burnley striker Danny Ings after United manager Louis van Gaal was impressed by the Burnley forwards performance this season.

Liverpool however still maintains an interest in the player and was hoping to be able to exploit a loophole in the Premier League that Manchester United will now use to make sure Ings moves to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils boss made up his mind to go after Ings following the way the young striker played during the Clarets 3-1 loss at Old Trafford in which Ings scored the visitors only goal.

Besides Liverpool, David Moyes Real Sociedad have flown the future England star to Spain to see if he would like to play in La Liga, while both Tottenham and Manchester City are also interested as they look to increase the number of home-grown players in their teams.

According to the Daily Mail United has already begun talks with the Turf Moor club in an attempt to get a move done quickly once the transfer window opens this summer.

Ings’s contract is up this summer, yet due to his age Burnley would be entitled to earn £5 million in compensation if he joined a Premier League club.

Under Rule U8 in the Premiership an English team can agree to a fee and have the player sign a pre-contract that is then a guarantee of a summer move.

Meanwhile Burnley still have a chance of staying up and would do all they can to get Ings to stay on for another season at least.
