German football magazine Kicker is reporting today that Manchester United has made Bayern Munich a “concrete request” in their desire to sign Brazilian defender Dante.

This is on the back of last week’s news linking the Red Devils to Bastian Schweinsteiger who is reportedly interested in moving to Old Trafford.

Previously United had tried to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, but after the 26-year-old said he was committed to staying at the North Rhine Westphalia club has United now looking at different options which include the 31-year-old central-defender Dante.

Dante is under contract at the Allianz Arena till 2017, but United hope they may be able to sign him for a reasonable fee unlike the £35 million it would take to sign Argentinian defender Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia.
