On-loan Manchester United player Tom Cleverley could see what he though was just a temporary stay at Villa Park turn into a permanent move this summer with Aston Villa hoping to beat off Everton for the midfielders signature.

The 25-year-old joined Aston Villa at the start of the season, and is not thought to be a part of Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal’s plans at Old Trafford.

Now according to the Daily Telegraph, new Villa manager Tim Sherwood is keen to keep the England international at Aston Villa but knows he may face a battle with Roberto Martinez’s Everton.

Cleaverley moved to Villa on deadline day last summer and will be available at the end of this season as a free transfer.
