According to reports Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has made signing a striker the clubs number one January priority, and has singled out German international Mario Gomez as the man he would like to bring to Old Trafford.
Currently the 30-year-old who van Gall knows well from his time at Bayern Munich is on loan at Turkish side Besiktas from Fiorentina and has been in fine form scoring eight goals in 11 league games.
Turkish football publication Fanatik claim that has let it be known that he is looking for a way to leave the Italian Serie A club.
A move to Old Trafford would be complicated though as United would not only have to agree a deal with Fiorentina, but convince Besiktas to cut short their loan agreement.
