Manchester United have made Zenit St Petersburg attacking midfielder one of their top targets for next summer and are pushing for a £32.5 million deal with the Russian club.
Just recently Witsel said he would be up for a move to Old Trafford after he found out that United scouts had been watching him.
Following this, reports in Italy say that the Premier League giants are pressing ahead with a summer move for the 26-year-old international teammate of Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj.
Zenit paid £32.5 million for Witsel to Benfica back in 2012 and will be looking to recoup their investment before letting him leave.
