The season before Sir Alex retired, many midfielders were linked to the Red Devils. Cesc Fabregas and Toni Kroos were keenly linked with a move to Old Trafford and when it became obvious that both players would not be joining Manchester United, Sir Alex went hard for Lucas Moura who was then playing for Brazilian side São Paulo. Reports had it then that Moura to Manchester United was a done deal.
In fact some media outlets claim the player was flying to England to complete a medical with the Red Devils but on the day he was supposed to be having a medical with Manchester United, he received an offer from PSG which he accepted.
The player has confirmed this rumour in the last one week and his agent Wagner Ribeir0, has also confirmed Manchester United actually made an offer to sign the player. Speaking to French media outlet L’equipe, Wagner Ribeiro was quoted as saying;
“At the time, Lucas had a superior proposal from Manchester United. PSG was less strong, but the city made ??the difference.”
Lucas has gone on to win two Championant titles with PSG while United are still in need of a creative midfielder. Reports are already linking the Brazilian once more to a move to Old Trafford and with Mata who is supposed to be United’s creative outlet creating practically nothing, signing the Brazilian could make a lot of sense.
