Following the recent criticism of Manchester United’s boring style of football, Louis van Gaal hopes to ease the pressure on himself and the team by making a marquee signing.

There has been talk of late that former Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo may return to Old Trafford, but we have our doubts over that ever happening with Paris Saint-Germain or even a spell in the MLS a much likely scenario for the Portuguese winger.

And while many new outlets claim he might join the Red devils for upwards of £80 million the Daily Mirror says that the Northwest club has now turned their attention to his Real Madrid teammate Gareth Bale.

The paper claims that Real Madrid are open to doing a deal for Bale providing United comes up with what they consider to be an acceptable offer.

Here at Soccer Transfers we feel that Bale would be a fine addition to LVG’s squad, but cannot imagine a deal of this magnitude being done during the winter transfer window, which has up believe that United will put any deal for Bale on the back burner till summer while looking to make a couple of signings that can secure them the Premier League title once the transfer window opens in January.
