In what many are calling a shock move, former Manchester United winger and Stretford End cult figure Andrei Kanchelskis has applied for the vacant manager’s position at Derry City, according to news coming out of Ireland.

The former Red Devil player has been out of work since being sacked by Latvian club Jurmala last year after they were relegated, but is now ready to return to football according to The Irish Mirror ,who claims the 46-year-old has applied for the vacant manager position despite current caretaker Paul Hegarty being favourite to get the job.

Kanchelskis moved to Old Trafford in 1991 from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk going on to make 120 appearances for the club while winning two league titles before moving to Everton in 1995.
