Manchester United is considering going after Chelsea goalkeeping target Asmir Begovic according to the Daily Mirror, with Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal seriously considering the 28-year-old Stoke City keeper as a replacement for the Madrid bound David DE Gea.

The £8 million rated Bosnian international was considered to be on his way to Stamford Bridge to replace Chelsea number two keeper Petr Cech, after the 33-year-old shot –stopper completed his move to Arsenal last week to become the Gunners new NO.1 in place of David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny.

Chelsea now fears that interest from Manchester United can change Begovich’s mind over a move to west London as it is surely better to be the first-choice keeper for a big club like United rather than a backup for Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge.

Stoke meanwhile has told Chelsea they want £10 million for Begovic and a player to go to the Britannia Stadium on loan, with so far Chelsea only offering £6 million for the Potters goalie.

Here at Soccer Transfers we still think that Louis van Gaal would prefer Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris, but expect the Dutchman to sign Holland No.1 goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from Ajax.
