According to reports in Spain Manchester United is confident of completing a move for 29-year-old Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos after having submitted a £41.9 million bid for the Spanish international.

The Red Devils already had their first approach knocked back and were told by the Spanish giants that they would not even enter negotiations until a more respectable figure was put on the table.

Real Madrid for their part are interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, but United refuse to play ball unless Ramos is included as part of the deal.

Meanwhile Ramos is hugely disappointed after his many years of loyal service at the Santiago Bernabeu, that Real Madrid did not offer him a lucrative new contract and is now said to be ready to move to Old Trafford.
