On phone with Ed Woodward?

Traveling Manchester United fans had to endure yet another insipid performance from the Red Devils as Louis van Gaal’s team refused to put in the effort to beat struggling Sunderland in the Stadium of Light.

Any hopes Manchester United had of a top four finish are starting to fade away now following this afternoons 2-1 loss to Sunderland which has fans begging United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward to be on the phone with Mourinho to ask the Portuguese manager to come and rescue them from the Dutchman’s hell.

United fell behind to a third minute Wahbi Khazri goal, before Anthony Martial levelled only to see a deflection from Lamine Kone in the 82nd minute bounce off of goalkeeper David de Gea to give the Black Cats their first Wearside league win over United since March 1997.

When speaking directly after the match the 64-year-old Dutchman made no excuses for his team’s performance.

“You have to win this kind of game,” Van Gaal said. “We can only blame ourselves. We could not cope with Sunderland’s aggression.

“Top four will be very difficult now. We have given five points away. I have told the players the top four will be very difficult. You cannot close your eyes to that.”

United fans were understandably annoyed and vented their frustration at Louis van Gaal. By taking to social media begging Ed Woodward to sack van Gaal and appoint Jose Mourinho as the clubs new manager.
