After having now given up hope of signing Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema following the 27-year-olds twitter post yesterday rubbishing all talk of him moving to the Emirates, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has according to the Daily Mirror turned his attention to Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic staying at the Parc Des Princes for at least one more season, Uruguayan international Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move to Manchester United where he would be allowed to play in his favourite centre-forward position, a luxury not afforded to him with the French champions, and with only a week to go before the transfer window closes both United and Arsenal are still in the market for a top-striker.

In the end it could all come down to wages as Cavani will be looking to earn well over £200,000 per-week, a price United would pay without problem having just freed up close to half a million from the wage bill by getting rid of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao.

Wenger on the other hand may not want to pay that kind of wage even though the club could easily afford to do it.
