Mats Hummels has given the biggest indication that he could be on his way to Manchester United this summer. According to the German media, the player himself has confirmed he is seriously considering the offers he has received and that there is a chance he could leave Dortmund at the end of the current Bundesliga season.
This is certainly good news for United who are in desperate need for another centre back as Phil Jones is continually injured. Louis Van Gaal who was the manager who brought Mats Hummels to spotlight while he was Bayern Munich’s manager is reportedly keen on signing him this summer. Few years ago when both Louis Van Gaal and Hummels were at Bayern Munich, the Dutchman did all he could to convince the powerful defender to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich but was unsuccessful, Louis Van Gaal now wants to reunite with the player at Manchester United.
With Chris Smalling the only real centre back at the club ( bar Phil Jones who is better forgotten as he can’t seem to get over his injury woes ), Manchester United could do with someone like the Borussia Dortmund skipper.
Although linked with a return to Bayern Munich and Barca in recent times, Manchester United are confident the world cup winner will be a Manchester United player by the end of the transfer down.
Hummels is certainly one of the best centre-backs in Europe at the moment and should the Red devils manage to beat the other of the chasing pack to his signature, he will represent shrewd piece of business for the club.
