According to reports Manchester United is very close to signing Internacional’s Rodrigo Dourado, with the midfielder seen by manager Louis van Gaal, as the perfect replacement for veteran Michael Carrick.

United sent scout to Brazil just to follow the 20-year-old, and reported back that they liked very much what they saw and that he would fit well into LVG’s midfield when Carrick was not available to play and replace him when the 33-year-old decided to hang up his boots.

LVG is eager to strengthen his midfield options and should he be able to pick up Dourado for a reasonable price he would be mad not to do so as the Red Devils fortunes showed last season when Carrick was unavailable for selection.
