Manchester United have moved a step closer to signing Portuguese ace Sanches after telling Benfica that they are willing to pay up to £40 million for one of Europe’s up and coming stars according to news out of Lisbon.

The 18-year-old midfielder has had a banner season not only for Benfica, but made his debut for the senior international team during a friendly with Bulgaria last month.

Red Devils midfielder Michael Carrick is out of contract this summer and with Bastian Schweinsteiger continually struggling with injuries, the verve that Sanches has shown while playing in the Primeira Liga would go down well at Old Trafford.

As you can see in the photo below Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola believes a 50€ million euro fee would be enough to bring the transfer to a completion.
