Manchester United

Barely a week to the start of the new campaign, Manchester United will have to look back to their level of preparation so far and hope they have done enough to make the best of the 2014/2015 English Premier League season. Manchester United had their worst Premier League campaign over 20 years in the 2013/2014 season under former manager David Moyes when they came 7th in the EPL. Moyes was later sacked for the poor performance.

Present Assistant Manager, Ryan Giggs was in charge of the last four EPL matches and he will hope his experience during the short time together with present evaluation of players by the new manager, Louis Van Gaal will be enough to have a standard, balanced team for the 2014/2015 season.

During the summer break, Manchester United has lost some influential and experienced players in Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs.

Ryan Giggs was appointed as the Assistant manager, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic left on free transfer to Queens Park Rangers and Inter Milan respectively and Patrice Evra moved to Seria A champions, Juventus. On the other hand, the club recruited the services of Spanish Ander Herrera and English wonder kid, Luke Shaw. Either these will be enough to return the English giants back to the top four in the EPL is left to be seen.

Pre-season friendlies left so much to be anticipated as Manchester United beat the likes of LA Galaxy, AS Roma, Inter Milan and European Champions Real Madrid before defeating English rivals Liverpool in the finals of the International Champions Cup.

Manchester United will be riding on the wings of winning the just concluded pre-season tour of United States when the new season starts but the big question is still about transfer activities which can’t be ignored.

Although, Manchester United will have to reduce the squad number since they won’t be competing in European club competitions but they will still need to strengthen in most of the positions to stand a chance of returning back for a title challenge.

Louis Van Gal understands the challenge he is faced with and will have to act fast together with Ed Woodward in making big transfers a reality. Ed recently said the club is in strong financial position to break the world record signing but that must be done to give the team a practical chance of competing with their rivals.

Chelsea can boast of top players in every position with others to compete as well, same as Manchester city.

Arsenal is beginning to spend again on quality players and offload abroad, will Manchester United’s natural believe in been a winner take them there without top players?

Fans are understandably disturbed about not capturing Thomas Vermilion and possible transfer of Javier Hernandez to Juventus is intensifying.

Although players like Ashley Young and Tom Cleverly seem to be showing something they have not shown in years in terms of quality but Manchester United will have to confirm signature of Arturo Vidal, Stroman, Matt Hummel’s, Benita’s calibre to shown fierce intention.

The defence is presently a thing of worry after losing three great players just to have brought in one young defender.

The last 20 days of transfers will have to work out fine to avoid another panic buy like Marianne Fellini under David Mayes.

Louis Van Gal will certainly be pleased to have better players at his disposal this season as six major teams vie for the top four excluding outsiders like Everton.
